David Katz (Eliiot Gould, Mash, Ocean’s Eleven) encounters an old buddy from his boyhood days and suddenly it’s 1958, the year of Sputnik, Elvis Presley and the New York Giants’ departure from their home field. But the only thing on fifteen-year-old David Katz’s (Zachary Taylor) mind is the summer he must spend at Camp Arafat, an Orthodox Jewish camp in the Pocomos run by Schlomo (Jerry Stiller, King of Queens, Seinfeld). Young Katz would rather spend his days with movies but his parents feel David should learn more about his religion within the strict tradition Camp Arafat provides. Armed with personal charm, a quick mind and a healthy disrespect for authority – especially for the corrupt counsellor Moishe (Paul Sand, Legend of Sleepy Hollow) – David leads a motley group of underachievers through the timeless dramas of adolescence.
