Hebrew With English Subtitles

Set in the late 16th century King of Beggars, is an epic tale of Love, War, Passion and Duty. Inside the small cemetery of the Jewish village of Lodonia by the Russian-Polish border, two social outcasts are forced by the community to join in matrimony under the moonlit sky. FISHKE, a lame orphan weds an older mysterious blind orphaned woman. But the wedding night proves a disaster, as Fishke, a devoted scholar and pious man, learns the truth about his new wife, a renegade vagabond belonging to a group of Jewish beggars. In fear, Fishkes wife makes a run for it through the dark night and although Fishkes marriage was forced upon him, he follows her into the woods believing her to be his destined lawful wife in the eyes of his God.
