Its just another sleepy Saturday in the oddly-named Midwest town of Suddenly: Sheriff Shaw (Hayden) is busy doing the rounds, Ellen Benson (Gates) is fixing lunch while her father-in-law (Gleason) and boy, Pidge (Charney) are trying to fix the TV set for the big game. Then, as three apparent FBI agents show up (lead by the irrepressibly hypnotic Sinatra) ahead of an impromptu stopover by the US President, the day quickly deteriorates. Suddenly, the Benson family find themselves prisoners in their own home and at the mercy of the increasingly unhinged Johnny Baron (Sinatra). The tension mounts as the presidential train gets closer to arrival while Baron (with the aide of the Sheriff and old man Benson) is drawn into revealing his past and what has lead him to work as a mercenary against the government that trained him to kill. With only an injured Sheriff, a hidden gun and a TV repairman with a major in Physics on their side, will the captives be able to save the most important man on the planet, or will they wind up on the wrong side of Johnnys gun?
