Review:
Boris Karloff, a renowned name of black and white cinema, plays a scarred butler during war time London; concentrating on the efforts of British and German spies we follow the efforts of British agents working to capture/identify the German ringleader Strendler.
Throughout the film the lead is centred on Margaret Lindsay’s Frances Hautry, who by the time the credits role is a quadruple agent, this is the only negative of the film as we see her change sides so often we don’t know whether we should be rooting for her or not.
As far as spy films go, British Intelligence serves up a mysterious character whose loyalty is far from black and white and a storyline that is drawn out to a climatic conclusion.
