Back in 1960, when rock and roll was king, shy stuttering Teddy Boy Johnny Taylor wanted one thing - to dance with Sally Andrews, the girl of his dreams. But Johnnys dream turns into a nightmare when he finds himself at the centre of a murder on the dance floor - he flees the scene, where he drives his car into the river, sending Johnny to a watery grave. 40 years later, a mysterious pirate radio station playing the sounds of the fifties causes Johnny to awaken from the dead and drive the streets searching for Sally and avenge his dead.
