night Of The Living Dead
Movie Info
A visit to her father’s grave turns into a nightmare for Barbara (O’Dea) when a shuffling stiff (Hinzman) walks up and attacks her brother in broad daylight. Panicking, Barbara pegs it into the woods while the lumbering attacker chases after her, finally finding a small farmhouse to hole up in, she locks herself in and catches her breath.
Hoping that her pursuer has gone, Barbara peeks out, only to find even more swaying spooks lurching around on the lawn. The discovery of a dead body later and the poor girl is on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and that’s when Ben (Jones) shows up. At 6’ 2”, the brooding houseguest immediately takes charge, barricading them in and searching the house for anything useful, while Barbara attempts to come to terms with what’s going on.
Finally transmissions begin to trickle out of the radio and television sets, but the news isn’t good. As the realisation dawns that the globe is in the grip of a worldwide zombie attack, the occupants of the house (four of which spring out of the cellar suddenly) try to find a way to escape and get to the nearest gathering point. Whether they can do that before they all kill each other, however, remains to be seen.

Review:
This is the quintessential mother of all zombie movies, at the time this movie revolutionised the horror and undead industry, Ben (Duane Jones) and an assortment of petrified individuals are holed up in a house barricading themselves from the onslaught of relentless zombies.
This is the original filmed in black and white, moody and chilling, shot on a shoestring budget it still manages to engage, terrify and instil heart-pounding fear into the audience. No one is safe from the grasp of the zombie horde and this keeps us guessing as to whether who will be the ones alive at the end if any.
