Photographer Philippe Halsman became one of the most sought-after celebrity portrait artists of his generation, creating memorable images of famous personalities often jump in midair for LIFE magazine.
Before coming to the U.S., however, Halsman suffered a terrible fate. Set in 1928 Austria JUMP brings us the true story of the first trial of a Jew by the Nazi government.
Philippe Halsman and his bullying father Morduch, share a troubled relationship, which turns increasingly sour as the two embark upon a hiking tour in Austria. When Morduch is found murdered, Philippe is charged and convicted of the crime. Is the assumption of guilt based on strong evidence, or on the Halsman family\'s Jewish faith?

Dark Autobiographical account of Phillippe Halsman, a Jew charged with the murder of his own father and tried in a German court of law during the rise of Anti-Semitism.
Part political, part racial and part dis-functional family, Jump highlights the worst moment in renowned photographer Halsmans life detailing the prejudices and hatred within Germany. Halsman is adequately mentally unstable enforcing the uncertainly of his actions but it is Patrick Swayze that steals the show with his robust controlled performance as the lawyer charged with Halmans defence.
Slightly lacking in direction and a final third that fails to build momentum, in spite of this the film still manages affect and intrigue through the best part.
